Motherhood

I watched the movie Motherhood tonight, and I kind of want to laugh.  I have been accused of saying this also but there is a line in the movie about how we just don't talk about the after effects of motherhood.  Such as the depressions, the incontinence, the anger,  the desperation.    Well at one point I would've agreed moms didn't talk about it, now I am of the feeling that is all we talk about.

I am not sure when, but there was a point when I just had enough of birth stories and sleepless nights sogas.  And the fact some women including myself ( lord knows) just can't get it right.  No mother is perfect and if they say they are, well we know differently, don't we ladies.  I can't even get dinner on the table for gosh sake.  Don't know what it is but it is a task I just can't get the swing of.

I had issues with the movie in that she (Uma) saved all the shopping and what not till the day of the party.  Who does this?  At that point as a mother you are begging for anything and everything to go wrong.   Especially if you live in a 6 floor walk up.  If you haven't seen the movie.  Please watch it.  Because even as mothers we all have something important to say.

Just look at the sheer amount of moms blogging,  I personally do not have any followers.  Well Steve follows but not sure he actually reads anything I write.  But the fact that I write is therapeutic from being at home all day without any real adult interaction (except for a minute or two at school pick up times).

I am still finding my voice.

Kindergarten Showdown

Fridays are my day to volunteer in Parker's class.  I help the kids with painting projects.  It is interesting to see how different kids interpret the art projects.  Granted the teacher does like it when they follow her directions to the letter.  But there are always a few kids that decide they are going to go a different route.   Today was a giant Valentine to loved ones.  Parker made one for Nan.  He loves his nan.

Normally I am just there for the morning class, but apparently the afternoon mom can no longer help out, her daughter said she would get fired if she missed anymore work.  Gotta love kids for spilling the beans, so I stayed and helped with the rest of the painting and other projects the teacher had.  I still am not sure how the teacher does it every day.  By Friday the kids are CRAZY!

TrashBall with Parker

We have orange, tangerine and lemon trees in our backyard and they have been dropping fruit like you wouldn't believe.   The kids will not eat oranges and tangerines so we end up having to trash most of the fruit.  Lemons we tend to use but not in the quantity of what we have so there tends to be a lot on the ground.

Parker and I decided to play basketball or Trashball as it is called in our house.   I put the yard waste bin in the middle of the  yard and he and I tossed all the fruit in.   He was so cute making his baskets.  He made a lot of "baskets" and earned 2 stamps for his hard work, not to mention all the fun we had being together outside.

Oh and here are some orange-ball pictures (think baseball). Or maybe we should have called it wack a orange?

My new mission...

Greyson has this buddy David.  David is the "new kid" anyway we have had him over a couple of times for play dates.   Today I have taken on the task of driving him home everyday from school and on Wednesday's I will be helping him with his reading comprehension homework.  His mom is single, and I can't imagine how she is able to work, take care of David and still be sane.  I know there are a lot of moms/dads doing this very task everyday, but still it has to be super hard.  So if this is something I can do for her then it will be my new mission in life.  Not to mention if his grades come up in reading comprehension then Greyson and him can have play dates again.  Until then they will have study time together.

Theater Class

The boys have been taking an after school theater games class for the last few months.  Today was the last day.  One of the games they play is called character games.  Today Parker had to pretend he was stuck in a bowl full of Jello.  It was so cute how he fell in and then showed how it was up to his neck and then he tried digging out and he did this little squeak of help me!  Loved it.

Greyson got to pretend to be a superhero rescuing a baby from a building on fire.  I love how all kids think a superhero flying always has the one handed fist straight out to fly.   He  rescued the baby but apparently had some trouble with the flying.   He later said to me "My hero was a first time flyer."  lol

Looking forward to seeing what the next after school  program the boys will choose to do.

Who needs new friends?

So Steve wants me to get out more, make some friends here in Anaheim.  So I joined a group on Meetup.com.

They have a lot of wonderful groups and I have met a lot of my current friends through the site.  However last night may have been the worst outing I have ever attended.  It was a potluck meet and greet.  Right away I should have known it was going to be a waste of my time.  Most of the woman seemed to want to promote a business.

Yikes like I have money to spend on your crap and no I do not need permanent makeup applied to my face.   Not to mention the hostess talked at level 10+,  seriously it was a small space and she really didn't have to yell like that.  Also she talked to her dog like it was a child.  "No mama's not getting on the computer" the whole time.  Not to mention the awkward toe licking of hostess, by said dog.   Seriously what did I get myself into.

Needless to say that will be 3 hours I will never get back in my life.  Who needs to make new friends anyway.
