Merry Christmas from the Dalbergs

Well this year we did not send out Christmas cards, I am going with the I am saving a tree line.  It isn't because I was too lazy, that time got away from me, or the simple fact that I just forgot.  Oh well, Steve says I should send a PDF file letter out on New Years.  I am thinking it may get out by Valentines day.  We shall see.

It is Christmas Eve today, I haven't posted in forever, Parker has been horrendous these last few months and is on the naughty watch list, it is true I have the video to prove it.  http://www.portablenorthpole.tv/watch/guest/8K4u9H5jcjBj4WpGMoYP9Q  Too bad he didn't really believe it.  His reaction was he couldn't possibly be on the Naughty list because he believes in Santa.  I think this mainly has to do with a sign in the bathroom.  If you stop believing you get underwear.  I am all about scaring the kids into believing. hehehe

On a much brighter note he has been a bit better in the last day or so, the whole not getting anything for Christmas may have sunk in.  No presents= No Fun.  No fun should be my middle name since I have had them doing school work on their Christmas break.  We have done a ton of science and history not to mention fun music lessons for Parker.  Who doesn't want to learn about high and low notes while playing Simon Says.  So much to do.  So little time.

I really hope 2011 doesn't get away from me like 2010 did.

Homeschooling

Update: not sure why this didn't post when it was written but I will post it any way now.  There will be more to follow with this after Christmas.

Today we have begun our homeschooling.  I keep reminding myself that it takes 6-8 weeks to get all settled in.  So we are talking 1st of the year we should have a routine right?  well I hope we get it together before that.

Honestly I have come to hate the word assessment.  It sucks and the horse it rode on sucks too.  I have come to realize that the brick and mortar school system has taught my children very little.  They are so far behind in the K12 program I would like to cry.  But I will march on because, I know now, how much they really should be learning.

Greyson is now taking a Spanish course and Parker has Music.  Both of these were not offered at our local school.  Maybe they though the kids would learn it through the other kids.  Osmosis anyone?   Parker will start his music lessons.  However we will be playing catch up for the next week to see what the boys already know.

Greyson is excited about using the computer to learn and study with.  He is also excited about all the science activities that we will get to do.

Yikes, Seriously!

Update: not sure why this didn't post when it was written but I will post it any way now.

Okay where the heck did our summer go?  It is gone and I have 1 week to get myself in gear.  Scouting stuff to get done,  PTA stuff to follow up on.  Back to School clothes shopping and Parker's room remodel to complete.

I have lots of pictures to post and funny Parker quotes to share but for now just wanted everyone to know we are alive and well (relatively). More later.
